What is Product Development in Food Science?

 In my constant search of career options I came across information on product developers. I thought it was an interesting topic because it seemed broad.

Product development, in any industry, is a widely known career, but what is a product developer in food science; And what are they working on currently? 

Product developers will often update and create new technology to create different food,  and invent new ways to package and seal food for safety. They also create new nutritious food for consumption. Product developers often work with entrepreneurs to develop new products.   It's important for product developers to know nutritional information to understand new foods and create different foods. Product developers are often in charge of monitoring the equipment and production process for efficiency. 

Overall, they mainly create and develop new foods and food packaging, work with others as a team, and test the processing equipment. Government agencies, universities, and production companies are common employers for food production.
